Washington’s perfect wine-filled, weekend getaway destination
Well! We had so much fun in Walla Walla a few weeks ago (link here), we decided to come back. Drew Bledsoe was having his annual event for his wine club members. There would be wine, food, and music; we were in. We decided to drive this time. 4 hours in the car to wine country, very doable.
We left Seattle after work on Friday and arrived around
After celebrating that we had made it with our one (okay let’s be real here, TWO) drinks, we headed off to bed. Saturday was the big day.
Doubleback Winery
Saturday was the event at Doubleback winery. Live music, unlimited tastings, small bites and lounging on the grass in the sun. Perfect. Drew Bledsoe was hanging out, walking around and getting to know his consumers. It was sunny with a nice little breeze. It was a pretty perfect day to relax at a winery.
The Maple Counter Waffle Co.
Sunday, we made our way over to The Maple Counter Waffle Company, again. You know the waffles are good when you want to go back twice in one month.
To Eat
- Fresh Strawberry: Classic waffle, fresh strawberries, strawberry syrup & whipped cream or ice cream
- Capra: Cracked pepper waffle, arugula, goat cheese, mushrooms, red pepper coulis, add an egg
- The Champion: Bacon waffle, extra sharp cheddar, fried egg, syrup
As you can see, Walla Walla is a pretty great weekend getaway. I’ve done it twice in the past month!
Fly or drive, both are quick!
Drink amazing wine.
Eat good food.
Laugh.
Be happy.
