Veranda High Resort MGallery is the most beautiful resort hotel I have ever stayed at in my entire life. Yes, I know… that’s a verrry strong statement but it’s the truth. I remember the exact moment that I stumbled upon Veranda High Resort while looking for places to stay in Chiang Mai; I turned to Kaleb and said, “I don’t even care how much it costs, we have to stay here.” Weeks went by before booking it because it was a bit more (okay, a lot more) spendy than most (all) the other hotels in Chiang Mai BUT my heart was set on it so we booked our stay. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

Veranda High Resort is an incredible mountain resort nestled up in the green jungley mountains in the Northern Capital of The Lanna Kingdom. The moment we arrived at their outdoor check in desk, I looked out into the green oasis of mountains, rice fields and tea terraces and cried the most beautiful tears of happiness, contentment and calm.

The resort provides an oasis away from daily life and after just a few moments you find yourself in a zen state of mind. With just 69 rooms and villas, Veranda High Resort is considered a boutique style hotel. Each room boasts floor to ceiling windows offering a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The rooms are so gorgeous you might not want to get out of bed in the morning but I promise the infinity pool and walking paths are even more stunning.

THE HIGHER ROOM

All day dining: Serving Breakfast from 6:30am-10:30am and lunch/ meals by the swimming pool until 7pm

With a name like The Higher Room you can expect the reality it provides: Set high above the resort you feel yourself in the mountains, on top of the world and at ease with your beautiful surroundings. Choose to dine indoors with Air Conditioning or grab an outdoor dining table to take in the views while you eat. We grabbed a table outdoors for our lunch and were just in awe of what we were experiencing; al fresco dining, sampling some of the tastiest Thai food with views over the infinity pool and out to the valley beyond.

Pro Tip: Be sure when booking to choose a package option that includes breakfast because the spread is one of the most impressive I’ve experienced.

RABIANG CHA

Serving Dinner from 4pm-11pm

You will find Rabiang Cha located in the lower plains of the valley of the resort. Choose a table outside under the stars or opt for a private indoor, air-conditioned dining room with views of rice and tea terraces.

Veranda High Resort Pool

The Veranda infinity pool is open from 7am-7pm.

The infinity pool here is a highlight of Veranda. Located high up on the roof terrace of the main building, overlooking the valley you can take a swim, lounge by the pool or watch the sunset over the mountains. With food and beverage service provide by The Higher Room, you won’t need to leave your pool lounger all afternoon long.

The Veranda Spa is open from 9am-7pm

Looking for a massage or extra relaxation treatment? All spa treatments at the Veranda Spa are set in their own private cottage. Each private cottage is essentially it’s own self-contained spa featuring a large soaking bath, steam shower and double treatment beds for traveling couples.

If you’re looking for a place to stay in/ around Old Town like we were then Amata Lanna Village is a great option. We chose Amata Lanna because of it’s location, price point and positive reviews.

Amata Lanna Village is a 4-Star boutique hotel with just 14 rooms, offering exemplary service and gorgeous, albeit small grounds. Traditional Lanna culture is seen in the architecture here, with local teak wood and displayed art from the ancient Lanna kingdom.

Our stay at Amata Lanna Village in Chiang Mai was a perfect boutique style hotel for our stay in Thailand. While it wasn’t within walking distance to many things, we never had a hard time ordering and using Grab (Thailand’s Uber/ Lyft). The Amata Lanna staff were all incredibly polite and made our stay extra comfortable. If you’re looking for a more authentic place to stay, off the beaten path then Amata Lanna will be perfect for you.

Located in the hart of Bangkok’s prime shopping and entertainment district, Compass Skyview Hotel is a beautiful, luxurious and sophisticated high-rise hotel to be enjoyed by visitors. With multiple restaurants, bars and lounges, Compass Skyview truly has it all. Our one night stay wasn’t nearly long enough but we absolutely loved the time we spent here. From lounging by the pool to enjoying complimentary drinks on the rooftop before picking the perfect pillow from their special pillow menu, this hotel was a true Bangkok treat.

Pro Tip: Book one of the special Club level rooms for extra goodies.
