October 21-November 8th 2018
You still have a few days to get out there and experience it. What is it exactly? Seattle Restaurant Week.
Seattle Restaurant Week gives you a list of over 150 restaurants to visit where you can experience a 3-course meal for just $33.
To find the list of restaurants that are participating, you can head over to the main website here.
We were celebrating my brother in laws birthday in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle and were already planning on going to one of his favorite restaurants, Pomerol. We didn’t know it was restaurant week when we made our original reservations but, it was fun to experience
Now… before I get carried away and tell you about our restaurant week experience at Pomerol, let me just take a quick moment to tell you about our pre-dinner drink experience at SWeL.
SWeL.
SWeL’s mission statement:
“For everything that we do or say we will stop and ask “Is this Shit We Like?””
That right there, was enough to make us want to give this place a look-see.
But TBH, there is a restaurant we love and know by the name of Five, up in Edmonds and we heard that the owner, Ted had just opened up SWeL in Fremont.
So with that, we def had to hop in to at least have a drink here.
But really, that mission statement is one of the best I’ve ever seen.
SWeL… Shit We Like.
We walked in and right away were greeted by the bartender. Granted they had just opened and we were the only people in the restaurant. But still, he was a genuine human being. Smiling, laughing, and engaging in great conversation with us. It was so much fun to be here as a family, just hanging out with the bartender as if we had all been friends for years.
The décor was very inviting, and well done. The whole vibe of this place was on point. Friendly people working here and friendly décor that makes you feel welcome.
Ted and his wife Ashleigh, share a heart of service. They believe a restaurant is and can build a community. And this is exactly what they have done here. We didn’t eat dinner at SWeL tonight, but their menu mirrors the menu at Five, so I can vouch for it and let you know that I love all of the food they serve. If you’re North of Seattle, head into Five; if you’re in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, then go ahead and check out SWeL.
Either way, you’ll be happy you went.
Pomerol
We love Pomerol. I ate at Pomerol not too long ago for my first time and fell in love with the place.
You can check out my post on it here.
We came back to celebrate my brother in laws birthday. We sat down to look at the menu and noticed the words
-Seattle Restaurant Week- on the menu. Surprise! We had no idea it was going on.
They had some of their usual staples, with a few different additions.
For my appetizer, I opted for my favorite chicken wings.
For my main, I delved into a mushroom risotto.
For dessert, a dark chocolate torte.
Was it a great dinner? Yes.
Was it the usual experience that we expect out of Pomerol? Not quite.
Restaurant week kind of took over here, and we were slightly disappointed by what came out of the kitchen this night. But that’s okay. I know that I love their food and because it was restaurant week they were a little preoccupied with that. I get it.
Regardless, I am glad that I was able to experience restaurant week. 3 courses for $33 is still a wonderful deal.
Please understand that I love Pomerol and their food (& their wine list.)
If you really want to get the feel for a legit experience at Pomerol then go ahead and check out my previous post on it.
