It’s the weekend and if there’s one thing that happens on weekends, it is brunch.
We woke up, we were hungry, we decided to try out a new spot.
Enter: Joule.
Joule is a Korean fusion restaurant.
It is also a part of the Relay Restaurant Group which happens to include one of my favorite Seattle restaurants, Revel.
Joule does Brunch on Saturday and Sunday 10am-2pm.
They keep it user friendly.
$19/ plate, all around.
You choose a main dish from the menu AND you get access to their buffet table.
Each month, there is a different buffet table theme.
November’s theme: Eastern European.
So, we walk in. It’s pretty busy. The host asked if we would be okay sitting at the Chef’s Kitchen Bar… DUH.
I have a thing for restaurants with an open kitchen. I also have a thing for sitting at the bar, being able to watch the chef’s prepare all of the masterpieces that we call food. I was SOOOO freaking happy there were exactly 2 seats available at the chef’s kitchen bar. Whoop, whoop!
I sat in amazement, watching the 3 chef’s work their tailfeathers away, creating beautiful works of edible art. They never stopped moving, each motion of theirs was so quick and thoughtful. It was such a fun experience!
We ordered our meals, and then headed over to the buffet table.
You guys… It was all so gorgeous. Ugh.
So, the theme of November: Eastern European. They promised potatoes, cabbage, and preserved products that would help our tummies and bodies prepare for the cold weather ahead of us in the coming season. They asked us to look for notes of caraway, dill and cumin as these bits would help warm up the flavors of the food.
Included in the breakfast buffet were
- Buckwheat crackers
- Borscht Dip (Ukrainian Beet Dip)
- Pryaniki Spice Cookies (Russian Gingerbread Cookies)
- Shchi (Russian Cabbage Salad)
Oroshka (Russian RawVeg Mix )- Salad Olivier (Russian Potato Salad)
- Poppyseed Mouse
My goodness, the colors, the flavors, the entire experience of the buffet made me giddy.
For our mains we ordered the Egg (Fried Rice) and Bao (Chorizo Hum Bao). Both were great, but seriously, we can’t stop thinking about the breakfast bar.
Joule’s Brunch was SUCH a fun experience. I highly recommend it. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
