Green Lake. Seattle, WA.
3-ish miles around. Walk it, bike it, rollerblade it, skateboard it.
Green Lake is one of the most gorgeous places to take a walk in Seattle.
During the summer, you can find me here lounging in the grass, throwing a frisbee with friends in the field, or walking around the trail.
Believe it or not, this was my first time walking the trail during Fall. It was a sunny day after work, so I seized the opportunity of golden hour (about 1 hour before sunset) and took a walk around the lake.
It was more than I could have ever hoped for. If you are looking to get some great photos of Green Lake, I strongly recommend heading there, this time of year.
It will take you about an hour from start to finish to walk around the lake
and you’ll be very happy that you did.
We made sure to park at the North end of the lake, so we could take full
advantage of dinner and drinks at Duke’s after we finished our walk.
Not planning a dinner date after your walk? No problem. Wondering where to park? Green Lake has 2 parking lots, each at opposite ends of the lake. Where do I always park? About a block up from the lake in any direction, on the street, away from all the madness of the traditional parking lots. I always vouch for street parking, but that’s just me. Luckily, the decision is yours to make!
Duke’s Chowder House.
Duke’s first opened its doors in 1977 in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle.
Today, they boast a total of 7 locations in the PNW.
Duke’s holds very high standards in all aspects of their restaurants.
- They hand-source every ingredient in the food that they serve.
- Their food is local when possible, always sustainable and free of harsh chemicals.
- Their restaurants are all high fructose corn syrup-free. They serve up Seattle Soda Company products and offer organic juices.
- Their beer comes from local, craft breweries.
- Nearly half of their wine menu stems from West Coast wineries with 60% being Washington wine.
So So So much goodness!
Duke’s is famous for their Bloody Bloody Mary.
Fun fact: It is their #1 best selling beverage.
For 20 years, they have been serving it up the same way; 2 wild pacific Mexican prawns,
a green olive and a pickled asparagus spear.
All of their food I have tried is wonderful. Tonight I indulged on the parmesan crusted salmon and kale salad. About 20% of their dinner menu items are seasonal, so don’t be surprised if your menu doesn’t include this item.
Wondering what else to order?
Their fish and chips are always a good idea and of course, their clam chowder is some of the best I’ve had.
I will leave you here with Duke’s promise.
“I’m Duke and I Promise to source the best whole, natural, organic, and 100% sustainable food that Mother Earth gives us and for Duke’s to be stewards of those precious resources and to only source sustainable products that support the replenishment of the environment for generations to come.”
